Safety instructions
- Make sure that when choosing the route, it corresponds to your experience and fitness level.
- Check the weather forecast in advance.
- Check if the cabins and snack stations you plan to visit along the way are open.
- Inform someone about the choice of route and your planned return before you set off.
- Also consider that in winter, it can already get dark by 4:00 p.m., and spending a night outdoors in winter can quickly become life-threatening.
- The weather can change unexpectedly quickly in the mountains. Therefore, always make sure to be properly equipped before setting out. Especially in winter, extra caution is advised when moving in the mountains. When planning your tours, keep in mind that your schedule can easily be disrupted by even a small factor, especially in winter. A sudden change in weather or a technical issue with your snowshoes can significantly impede your progress.
- Please also consider that markings may be invisible in the snow during winter, so make sure to prepare well for your tour!

Directions
The starting point of the hike is the Gothic St. Wolfgang's Church. We will walk along the Kirchgrabenwanderweg to the Wolf farm. After about 300 meters, we turn right onto a forest path towards Kernstockwarte where we will meet the Kernstockwarte-Ramssattel hiking trail (marked in green). From there, we follow the signs towards Kernstockwarte. The last few hundred meters involve hiking up a steep rocky footpath. Once at the top, we will be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the Wechsel region, Stuhleck, Rax, and Schneeberg.
The return journey takes place on a narrow path, which leads us back to the hiking trail Kernstockwarte-Ramssattel (green marking). We follow the signs towards Kalvarienberg, and after passing Kalvarienberg and the hiking trail Kernstockwarte-Ramssattel (green marking), we arrive back at the Wolfgangskirche passing by the parish church and elementary school.
