Marienseer Schwaig
The Marienseer Schwaig, part of the municipality of Aspangberg-St. Peter, lies at approx. 1,476 m above sea level and is a particularly charming alpine pasture in the Wechselland region. The Marienseer Schwaig is farmed exclusively on a seasonal basis.
Already mentioned at the beginning of the 19th century, the Schwaig combines historic alpine pasture farming with natural hospitality. In summer, it is managed by the Mariensee-Hochwechsel pasture community; however, there is no overnight accommodation.
The menu features genuine products from the region and homemade dishes, including the popular fruit strudel. At the biotope directly in Mariensee, two hiking trails lead to the hut: a direct route (approx. 1 hour) and a route via the "Erlebnis Wildwasser" theme trail.
The hut is an ideal starting or finishing point for tours such as a hike to the Hochwechsel or the Wetterkoglerhaus. The Marienseer Schwaig also plays a role in winter: the Wechsel panorama trail connects it with other sections of the trail.
